Unseen Sights is a body of work inspired by the old quarry landscapes of County Dublin. Modern technologies have transformed the way we experience nature. My work seeks to represent this in paint by appropriating the language of remote sensing. Using a camera drone, I capture aerial perspectives of the land from above. These reveal the human interventions that form an essential part of the environment of a post-industrial landscape. I often approach places which that have a juxtaposition between formerly industrialised and re-wilded. Collecting archival materials, physical debris such as stones and on-the-ground research, the local sites are brought into the studio space, where they are reimagined as large-scale, immersive paintings.
