My name is Elena Gallagher and I am a multi-media artist based in Dublin, Ireland. I am currently studying Fine Art, Painting at the National College of Art and Design. I also briefly studied for a summer semester at the Barcelona Academy of Art. I work with a variety of mediums including paint, photography, collage, sculpture, video, installation etc. My main style of work explores the notion of identity, or self-identity and the exploration of our collective struggle to achieve it. My artistic approach centres around exploring contrast and juxtaposition, creating a dynamic interplay that reflects the diverse facets and complexities inherent in our human experience. My work aims to blend intellect and intuition in order to bring to life a continuous dance between abstraction and figuration. This allows me to capture the fluid and ever-changing essence of identity, a concept that often defies rigid classifications.
