The immigrant experience, the ways in which I've seen them in media, have always been widely interlinked with wars or poverty. It is usually focused on refugees and asylum seekers with no fundamental distinctions being made or, consideration that migrants have very different experiences and can’t be put into a box.Through design, my project aims to shift the focus onto a different aspect of the immigrant experience. It uses the metaphor of a doorway to shed more light on the nuances of being an immigrant. For instance, the feeling like you have one foot on both sides of the door, the unique experience of being in the middle where several intersections occur.
