My artistic practice delves into the intricate details, patterns, and textures that define the spaces around me. With Italian roots on my mother's side, I have spent nearly every summer immersed in the rich cultural tapestry of Italy. Among the many wonders of this beautiful country, I find myself particularly captivated by the architecture and ambiance of its quaint hilltop towns. These towns, with their winding streets, narrow passages, and charming archways, offer an endless source of inspiration. Through my printmaking, I meticulously capture and convey the essence of these enchanting locales. Each carving in the lino allows me to highlight the subtle nuances and delicate features of the streets I have come to know so well. The tactile process of carving mirrors the experience of navigating these historic pathways, making it a natural medium for expressing the intricate patterns and textures that characterize their construction. My work aims to transport viewers to these picturesque settings, inviting them to appreciate the beauty found in every detail.
