My thesis, ‘A Home in the City’ is a body of research which strives toward a new trend in urban housing design, chasing a methodology which puts people’s needs and cultural experiences at the core of the design process.
It relies on in-depth research of the context, irregularities of place, community feedback and one-on-one interviews, to develop a method of designing and way of living that is both bespoke and unique to the community it is built for. It proposes a piece of architecture on Hill Street, Dublin, that responds to fragments of gathered stories, references, and tales of social relationships.
