The aim of the project is to create a new brand, packaging design and campaign for wasabi powder, behind the brand ‘TATSU’ with a slightly higher price budget of €14. My childhood love for reading manga and watching cartoons has been a major source of inspiration for me. My passion for drawing and consuming media from Asia has shaped my creativity, allowing me to produce more imaginative and energetic work. I hope to bring more of this vibrant influence into the industry. The target audience are tourists or people with a general interest in Japanese culture. Primary audience would be in the airport but this product could potentially be located in supermarkets or tourist gift shops. The primary audience are tourists leaving Japan or general enthusiasts of Japanese culture. Tourists leaving have just explored a new country and are eager to carry a part of their adventure back home. Seeking a last-minute souvenir or gift at the airport, they find ‘TATSU Wasabi Powder.’ It allows them to share the unique flavours and experiences from Japan with others. Individuals passionate about Japanese culture, particularly anime, manga, and related art forms, will find the wasabi powder packaging, inspired by ancient Japanese watercolours, appealing. Posters with manga-inspired designs enhance the product's appeal, bridging their love for anime and traditional Japanese art. This brand offers a unique experience as both a culinary delight and a cultural artefact. ‘TATSU’ means ‘dragon’ in Japanese and represents our brand of wasabi powder. The name symbolises power, energy, and a bold flavour experience that our wasabi brings to your dishes. The dragon is drawn after the wasabi root, decorated with the axillary buds on the root. The logo, inspired by traditional Japanese stamps, uses the blocky 'Hashi' font to maintain an authentic feel. For posters, the playful 'Okami' font provides a dynamic and engaging style, enhancing Tatsu's spirited nature. The two posters are illustrated in manga-like panels. There are motifs or full dragons incorporated in both posters to refer to the name ‘Tatsu’. Additionally, a string of wasabi runs through the borders of the posters, symbolising the continuous and flavorful connection Tatsu has with its roots and cultural heritage. This design bridges the gap between traditional art and modern anime influences, creating a unique and captivating visual experience. Tatsu marries Japanese cultural heritage with contemporary design, delivering a flavorful and visually captivating experience.
