I began my college degree at Atlantic Technological University (ATU) in 2020 as a mature student. My degree rests predominantly in Ceramics and Sculpture, however, photography has become an increasingly appealing avenue. The appeal of photography lies not only in preserving memories but also in capturing a moment in time, and making it a part of the present, forever. Working with various mediums can offer fresh perspectives and inspire new directions in my practice. I find great satisfaction in the hands-on process of creating tangible artwork. Transforming raw materials into objects capable of narrating stories or embodying beauty and functionality is immensely fulfilling. The main materials I work with are clay, plaster, and wood. I also use found objects and reused, old art pieces. My current works reflect personal interests, drawing heavily from the rich tapestry of old American and Western culture from the mid-19th to the early 20th century. My aim is to bring attention to the significance of many of these marginalised happenings. Recognising that not everyone possesses the innate eye of an artist or comprehends the intricacies of contemporary art, I infuse my art with narrative depth. Storytelling through art offers a universal language that can bridge gaps in understanding and becomes a means to engage a broader diverse audience and evoke connections beyond the confines of traditional artistic expression.
