I have a deep interest in realism and cinematic type painting and try to portray this in my work. My painting reflects on my identity and my own experience of the world: looking at the subject of the self and identity within interior spaces. I have kept areas loose and open, keeping that layer of processing visible to the viewer. It is uncomfortable to let go of that control and particularness that comes along with the anxiety in my work. There are areas in my paintings that are very concentrated and, in a way striving for perfectionism. Our DNA is hardwired with the desire for something greater, something flawless and I use this feeling to try to balance out my life, when many areas are messy and unforgiving. This process has allowed me to gain a greater understanding of myself and my own identity.
