I am a socially engaged multidisciplinary visual artist. My work follows the complicated reality of queer peoples’ lives through the mediums of film, performance, spoken word, and sculpture. Driven by a fundamental interest in the cultural narratives and expectations that exist around gender and sexuality, my work breaks away from heteronormative ideals enforced in media, art, and social tradition, bridging the gap between the lack of queer representation in media historically. Impact Statement is a film, sound and textual installation that engages with the mental, physical and social impact of abuse on the body of queer survivors. The artwork is a collection of film and sound that explores the intimidating nature of coming forward after abuse, creating dialogues around the structures of the judicial system in Ireland.
