‘The Symposium’ collection is an investigation into one of Plato’s most profound discussion, analysis and celebration of love. In making this collection, I explored this idea of love in its highest from, connectivity and divine androgyny.
It is stated by Plato that humans once lived as whole beings, “They had two sets of arms, They had two sets of legs, They had two faces peering, Out of one giant head”
I studied a variety of clothing that connects us together as humans in a literal sense; a baby sling, a parachute and a pinafore. These garments of connectivity encouraged me to interpret Plato’s thoughts on love and human interaction through the medium of fabric, silhouette and pattern.
