My name is Garrett Kavanagh from Gorey Co Wexford and this was my final project for 3D Design Modelmaking + Digital Art at IADT. I was interested in this course as I wanted to create movie props for film but as the years went by I rediscovered my passion for miniature models. The model was built to be a shooting miniature but is more in line with a display model/diorama due to the amount of detail. The model is built to 1:28th scale sitting on a 100cm x 71cm base. The building takes inspiration from structures in New York, combined with some elements from Irish architecture. The idea I had for the setting of this world was post apocalyptic. A devastating war that had taken place 10 years prior leaving only 30% of the world population alive. This would be in line with the theme of a film or TV show based on that setting so that a model like this could be used in as a shooting miniature.
