My current work seeks to capture the unseen energy of nature, to highlight the often overlooked in the natural environment, and examine our crucial interdependence with the natural world. Hawthorn and lichen are among subject matter used. Hawthorn is a medicinal plant, a known remedy for the heart and circulatory system. The berries' resilience and strong colour make it a powerful motif to work with. While the humble and overlooked lichen can live for hundreds of years and acts as an important environmental indicator for tracking climate change and biodiversity. Lichen's ghost-like fronds give it an ethereal and otherworldly aspect. The work is concerned with the natural world from the minute to the broad. Landscape holds memory where nothing is ever lost or forgotten.
