My name is Holly Halligan, I am a sculpture based artist from Cork City. Utilising a phenomenological approach, my work explores the concept of sound. Grounded in a somatic and sensory experience for the viewer, I am examining cultures of sound and the sonic realm. I use multidisciplinary modes of making, and much of my process is motivated by materiality. In my sculptural practice currently I utilise mould making, metal and textiles. I have been experimenting with sound carrying motifs in my work, notably creating echoes and methods of trapping air through working with convex shapes in sculpture.
