My name’s Jack Moroney, and I’m a 2D animator and compositor. I’ve a profound interest in the functionality of story and the methods employed to entertain audiences with familiar and unfamiliar characters and surroundings. I think stories are a great tool to learn and feel for other perspectives of navigating the world with the many problems it throws at us. Animation is an additional thrilling challenge as we creators find ways to elicit emotion with abstract visuals. I produced my graduate film alongside Jason Collins, and it’s titled The Johnny Softspot Teaser. The teaser follows an unfortunate 21-year-old boy who on his birthday decides to muster the courage to ask a girl out for the oncoming school debs. We have big plans for this project and will extend the 3 minutes of ironic dramatic humour into a 10-minute pilot, with the hope to pitch Johnny Softspot as a series. Below you’ll be able to see a montage of Johnny’s time in school and other screenshots made with Toon Boom Harmony, Photoshop, and Nuke.
