My degree show work is a careful mash-up of feminist theory, teenage bedroom type aesthetics and modern-day internet culture. There is inspiration drawn from maximalism, domesticity and installation work alike. The palette of my work is comprised mainly of pinks, purples and blues. I aimed to explore a complex relationship with living in a female body, particularly through a modern day lens where everything is shared and documented via phones and the internet. There is an element of satire mixed into the heavily stylised portraits. There is definitely a large amount of satire and humour within the work I create, and I hope to work in a way that means everyone can find even a small piece to relate to.
