I am painter who primarily uses colour as a mode of expression. I enjoy indulging in art's ability to show emotion and feeling, and that which is otherwise unseen. I use painting as a way of illustrating complex thoughts or feelings about personal experiences, however significant or insignificant they may be. I see the act of creation as a conversation between the past and the present. I think that we are constantly gathering information, and being affected by it at the same time, consciously or unconsciously. The act of creation to me is the act of processing. It is a way of taking intangible, abstract, subtle feelings and turning them into something which is potentially understandable. I have an interest in mythology, symbols and psychoanalysis for the same reason. There have always been methods employed by human beings which help us to make sense of the bombardment of information which we absorb on a daily basis. Making art, to me, is no different. I believe and trust in the wealth of information which lies below the realm of consciousness, and I believe that seeking to understand what is there is a worthy persuit for anybody. I am sure that freedom and truth live there, down with the knowledge of the unconscious, and they are two of the most important finds in each person's life, and that is why I paint.
