“L’ORDRE DE LA REINE”
This collection is inspired by the grandeur and over-the-topness of the late 17th and early 18th century Renaissance and Rococo periods. It overlays a looking glass on to the whirlwind life of the one and only Marie Antoinette.
It focuses on the glitz, the glamour and the decay.
I looked at this history for inspiration and shape, yet wanted to implement modern techniques and ideas to create a one of a kind, unique collection, that has never been seen before. Furthermore, the primary research was fuelled through journeys to Paris wandering through the back streets, immersing myself in the culture and visiting its many palaces and museums.
The creation of the collection was achieved through heavy embellishment, bead and stone work with elements of textile art. As a result, this collection is one of old-fashioned glamour, sophistication and class shown through the delicately drafted patterns and countless hours of hand beading work.
