I am visual artist from Kilkenny. My current body of work has overarching themes of isolation, loneliness and the breakdown of communication between the individual and larger society. By means of painting, this is demonstrated through suggestion and gestural ideas connecting the image to a particular relationship between characters. The use of light, shadow and vast landscapes or barren interiors often play a role in these depictions. My paintings explore human interaction. The interplay between one another and the immediate environment. My work focuses on relationship and communication to distill a visually bold narrative in my work. Through the process of painting, I try and shine a light on moments of quiet solitude, chance interaction and the private self. Transforming the ordinary into a lyrical and uncanny visual landscape. This series is situated within these realms through the connection of the characters and their immediate environment, their form of gestural communication with said environment and the other figures within the work.
