I am inspired by the rich tapestry of Slavic culture, particularly the forgotten traditions and mythologies that have shaped the identity of my ancestors. My work delves into the depths of Slavic paganism, a spiritual heritage that once held deep reverence for nature and the natural world. Through my research, I have uncovered the profound loss of these traditions, a loss that has been accelerated by the spread of Christianity and its impact on our cultural roots. I work with animation to bring these ancient stories and symbols to life, using the medium to explore the intricate connections between mythology, heritage, and the environment. Animation allows me to visually express the dynamic, fluid nature of these tales, capturing both their beauty and the melancholy of their fading presence in modern society. My work is a journey of investigation and rediscovery, a visual reclamation of the beliefs and practices that honoured the earth, the seasons, and the spirits that once guided our communities. By resurrecting these narratives, I aim to foster a renewed respect for our natural world and to remind us of the wisdom that has been lost in the wake of religious and cultural shifts. Through my art, I seek to bridge the past and present, to honour the voices of my ancestors, and to inspire a reconnection with the ancient traditions that once celebrated the sacredness of life and nature.
