My focus of my practice is the questioning of nature and its meanings. The term nature has been used to explain chaotic, sublime and savage factors related to natural forces. It is interesting how visually it is often represented by using the colour of green. This body of work focuses on the idea of ‘tension’ which has evolved alongside past and present times. Which in turn affects the current society and how it continually changes the way of interacting with the natural environment. A ‘separation’ from nature began with the categorisation of living elements however our interdependence with other life forms is fundamental for all humanity. The incorporation of grass engages with the idea of how the ‘domestication’ of living organisms is processed by industrial activities. Industrial grass can be seen as an indicator related to ‘land transformation’ in Ireland and on a global scale. 'Care' is an important component in my practice especially in relation to the germination, growing process and repurposing of abandoned things.
