My painting is primarily about expression and exploration of self and the materials I work with. Presently I am using my own locality in the midlands as a starting point. I find the close observation required gives me a heightened appreciation of my surroundings. The forms, colour and light of this flat, spare landscape, captured with my camera, are transcribed with oil onto canvas.
