I am a director and actor from Co. Limerick and my work is often connected with female themes of motherhood and feminism. In my recent graduate film 'How to Skin a Cheetah' I explore the complicated relationship of mother and child through a dark and violent drama steeped in fantasy and surrealism. This piece takes visual and tonal reference from 1920's German cinema. 'How to Skin a Cheetah' uses polarising mothers to investigate a coming of age nightmare exaggerated by an absurd world. I am currently working on a documentary that focuses on female Zambian health care workers operating in a clinic in the community of Linda, Lusaka. This documentary demonstrates the gender based obstacles these women face by being in a low resource country as well as highlighting the life changing work they do for mother's in their community under the non profit organisation i4Life. This documentary will tackle universal themes of community, malnutrition and the importance of encouraging young women to finish their education.
