My approach to making is autobiographical and conceptual. Through my work, I prod and poke at unquestioned beliefs and societal norms. I like to invite the viewer into my way of thinking, and use my work as a platform for them to question their own beliefs and expectations. Film and pop culture are central themes in my work, as well as the experiences of myself and others, sociological and feminist theory. My most recent body of work, ‘There is this great love waiting for me’, for the NCAD graduate showcase, investigates, challenges and recontextualises female socialisation and the role of popular culture in identity, the cultivation of romantic beliefs and expectations and the salience of fantasy over reality.
