Michella Perera’s work plays on the viewer’s perception and understanding of the space around them. They are realized as theatre sets that hover between illusionary and real space in which existing elements of the architectural space appear to be disrupted. The artist draws on stagnant and fragmented urban monuments to produce these spatial interrupts in which time appears to have halted.
