The following work explores the potential of the space taken up by social housing blocks in the city, through reimagination of the ground floor and the reuse of urban infrastructure. In many instances the ground floor that should be the most interactive space with the city streets, remains vacant and unused due to feelings of unsafety of living there or lack of programme etc. The work focuses on a broader approach for creating communal spaces in order to activate the spaces. It is tested on the Dorset Street Flats in Dublin city center through multiple site interventions.
