As a fashion designer, I focus mainly on textures and complimentary colours in my designs. My inspiration for using textures as key focal point in my designs allows me to carefully consider fabric choices and thoughtful fabric manipulation techniques which I have been drawn to throughout my designing journey. I wish for my work to always allow the fabrics and conscious design choices to speak for themselves.My intentions with my final year collection “Perfections”, was to highlight natural conditions and textures of the human skin. Deemed as unattractive and shameful due to the extremely high and unrealistic societal beauty standards. Imperfections in our skin are perfectly normal and are shared by all of us as people and humans. Using skin-like fabrics, correct colours and the appropriate silhouettes, I have been able to create a collection the showcases skin texture in true nature, highlighting the human body and produce designs that have given deeper thought beyond the surface level of fabric.
