An Post ‘GPO Witness History’ at the General Post Office in O’Connell Street is an interactive exhibition bringing history to life though technology, video, sound and authentic artefacts. The centrepiece is an immersive semicircular audiovisual space which will put visitors at the heart of events during the five days in which the GPO was both the military command centre, and the seat of the Provisional Irish Government. The Centre will be opened by An Taoiseach on 25 March and officially opened to the public on 29 March. An Post has also issued a set of sixteen stamps ‘1916-2016 Eighth Definitive Stamp Series’ marking the centenary of the 1916 Easter Rising. The stamps are grouped into four categories: Leaders and Icons; Participants; Easter Week; and The Aftermath and are designed as a narrative rather than as individual images.
