The PhotoIreland Festival takes place in a range of venues in Dublin in July. In its seventh year, the main exhibition, ‘Ideals’, brings together fifteen projects that seek to highlight socio-political issues, underline the relationship between art and society, and reflect on the fight for equal rights and opportunities. In Smithfield Square, ‘Flâneur By Dublin’ places commissioned works by Esther Teichmann and Rik Moran in large cubes, which light up after dark to create an open-air gallery. ‘Landscape Rising’ at the Solomon Gallery, curated by Jennie Ricketts, features work by four Irish photographers and explores themes around the 1916 Rising and commemoration. Other highlights include Korean photographer Youngdon Jung at the Copper House Gallery, and ‘How to Flatten a Mountain’ at the Cow House Studios.
PhotoIreland Festival: 1-31 July
