A solo exhibition of work by Martin Gale entitled ‘Martin Gale – Recent Works’ will take place at the Lavit Gallery this autumn. Gale’s paintings focus on the interaction between people, animals and the landscape. Using and re-using features such as a country road, bare trees, a wintry sky or a lone figure, Gale’s paintings all suggest a narrative, but leave room for the viewer to elaborate. These works are not simply realist paintings but provide a suspended narrative and a hint of social commentary on how we interact with places and environments.
