Featuring a selection of modern masterworks, contemporary art and new commissions, IMMA presents an exhibition that looks at the role of spirituality in visual art. ‘As Above, So Below Portals, Visions, Spirits & Mystics’ spans a hundred years from the abstract masterworks of Kandinsky, Klint and Kupka to contemporary work by Steve McQueen and Bruce Nauman and new commissions by Alan Butler and Linder Sterling among others. Other exhibitions at IMMA include Duncan Campbell’s ‘The Welfare of Tomás Ó Hallissy’, and an exhibition of work, ‘Institutional Ghost’, by Brazilian artist, Jac Leirner made in response to the architecture of the museum.
