Belfast Exposed presents ‘Snake’ by Clare Strand, a new body of work exploring a collection of images sourced from the artist’s personal archive, recently published as Girl Plays with Snake by MACK Books. This project continues Strand’s ongoing engagement with the scrapbooks, magazines and photographs that she has collected since her mid-teens. The gallery also has an exhibition of work at the Roscommon Arts Centre, in conjunction with the Photo Ireland Festival and the Belfast Photo Festival. Dara McGrath will show ‘Project Cleansweep’, surveying the landscape of chemical and biological weapons in the British Isles and its continuing legacy, interrogating deliberate state and military encroachment into and appropriation (often secretive) of the landscape.
Clare Strand: until 17 June; Project Cleansweep: 1 – 17 June
