In ‘The Past is a Foreign Country’ at The Dock, Anita Groener asks what it is to be human today in the context of the refugee experience, through drawings, large-scale installations, and animation (see article, p 80). Exploring themes of trauma and loss, the artist has created work from fragile materials, such as twigs, paper, pins, twine and gouache, speaking to the fragility of life and society that the refugee crisis exposes. This exhibition will tour to Uillinn, Skibbereen and The Lab, Dublin in 2019.
