‘There Not There’, featuring work by Victoria J Dean and Sharon Murphy, has travelled from the Golden Thread Gallery, Belfast, to the Siamsa Tíre Galleries, Tralee. Both artists share a concern with landscape and human interventions in the environment. Dean explores the human propensity to rationalise space, while Murphy conceives of space as ‘staged’ and the body as ‘site’ where the outer world and inner feelings intersect. While each artist’s work is distinctive, they share an unsettling preoccupation with absence.
