At the Towner Art Gallery, Anne Hardy curates ‘The Weather Garden’ in Towner’s eighth and final exhibition as part of the UK Arts Council Collection National Partners Programme 2016-19. Among the artists in the exhibition is John Gibbons, an Irish-born artist now working in London. His work has always been concerned with pure physicality, with an emphasis on materials, form and construction. Deeply textural, his works are often designed to be located in unusual environments and, in this way, are meant to be unsettling.
