Since she began exhibiting in the 1980s, Gwen O’Dowd’s formal concerns have always been deeply rooted in the tradition of landscape painting, but the specific locales from which she draws inspiration and her modes of addressing them have varied considerably. The artist has registered changes in the landscape, including ecological devastation, as well as the grandeur and mythologising of the rural and coastal scene. O’Dowd shows a series of prints at the Séamus Ennis Arts Centre.
