‘Penumbra’, an exhibition of contemporary painting, features the work of eight Irish artists: Sinead Aldridge, Hannah Casey-Brogan, Susan Connolly, Sarah Dwyer, Fiona Finnegan, Alison Pilkington, Yasmine Robinson and Louise Wallace. The exhibition at the FE McWilliam Gallery, increases the visibility of the painterly practice of women artists in, of and from the island of Ireland. It presents us with a range of material practices that are reimagining and transgressing the terrain of what defines Ireland and broadly Irish cultural identity.
