In 1998, photographer Seamus Murphy travelled throughout Ireland taking photographs of the veterans of the Irish War of Independence. These men, and one woman, were photographed candidly in their homes and parishes or in formal shots. Now, in the centenary year of the outbreak of hostilities in Tipperary, the photographs are on show at the Source Arts Centre alongside a more recent series of photographs by Murphy – portraits of Syrian families living in the county, having fled from another war.
