Responding to Nan Sheppard’s 1977 book, The Living Mountain, Eamon Colman’s work at the Source Arts Centre draws inspiration from the tracks and pilgrimage roads of rural Kilkenny. ‘Into the Mountain’ examines the history of mountain climbing and mountaineers’ concern with reaching the summit rather than focusing on the climb. Colman explores this in-between space, and how it might relate to climate change and the environment today.
