In ‘I have made a place’, at the Crawford Art Gallery, Laura Fitzgerald recreates a smallholding through drawing, video, sound and sculpture. Considering ideas of art and art practice in a time of scarcity, Fitzgerald uses a restless figure obsessed with cutting turf to engage visitors. As viewers move through the installation, competing voices emerge, encouraging them to listen, look, and maybe even laugh.
