The work of Jackie McKenna, Atoosa Pour Hosseini and Bassam Al-Sabah at the The Dock shares an interest in themes of identity, illusion, nostalgia and displacement. McKenna uses sculptural work and film installation while focusing on Fasayil, a Palestinian village in the West Bank where the Bedouin community’s way of life is being eroded; Hosseini also turns to film, using the medium to pose questions about illusion, reality and perception. This is complemented by Al-Sabah’s consideration of displaced communities through the medium of cartoons in translation.
