Photographer Conor Horgan’s exhibition ‘Post-State’, at the Royal Hibernian Academy’s Ashford Gallery, explores belonging, trust, group identities and the vulnerabilities inherent in how we structure society. Travelling around Ireland, Horgan has built a corpus of imagery that reflects on how the island might look if it were no longer a nation state. From flags and barriers to scenes of abandonment and decay, the works can be read as a series of glimpses into a future, post-state Ireland.
