Bettina Seitz’s ‘Ancestors’ at The Complex explores the daily lives and custodial role of lighthouse-keepers and their families on an uninhabited island off the west coast of Ireland. The artist uses site-responsive sculpture, installations and films (made in collaboration with videographers Peter Martin and Fionn Rogers, sound designer Joe Hunt and dramaturg Jocelyn Clarke). She inquires into the continuity between our distant ancestors and us, in search of an interconnected natural world.
