The Douglas Hyde Gallery presents ‘Period of Change’ by Anna Boghiguian. A close observer of the human condition, Boghiguian draws on both the past and present, and on poetry and politics. At the centre of her exhibition is the work The Chess Game. Conceived as a world stage, it is an oversized chess board with cutouts of historical figures from opposing schools of thought. They include the philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, Gavrilo Princip, who assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand, initiating World War I, and entertainer and double agent Josephine Baker.
