‘With Dust in the Air’, a solo exhibition of large-scale drawings by Irish artist Eve Parnell, has opened at Burgwedel town hall near Hanover in Germany. The exhibition is based on the sculptures of Bernini. In an age of computer graphics, Parnell’s drawings recapture something of the timeless quality of the Italian master’s work, using pencil on delicate tissue paper. They have a simplicity and pared-back quality that highlights the richness of the folds of fabric, layered like thick cream. The work will go afterwards to the Embassy of Ireland in Berlin where it will open on 1 April.
