The forty-sixth General Assembly of the International Academy of Ceramics (IAC) will take place in Dublin, 8-12 September. The conference in Dublin Castle will be accompanied by an extensive exhibition programme and a craft trail. These will include ‘Through Time and Space’, contemporary Chinese Ceramics at the Chester Beatty Library; ‘Clay in Transcendence’, an exhibition of contemporary Korean Ceramics; and exhibitions from Croatia and Norway. ‘Centred’, an exhibition of Irish Ceramic Art, will take place in Farmleigh Gallery. The Dublin Craft Trail, a medley of fringe events and exhibitions, will run alongside the conference and throughout the month of September. ‘Generation: Innovation’ at NCAD, an exhibition of work in clay by those associated with the college, includes work by Jennifer Hickey and Neil Read. In the Oliver Sears Gallery, ‘Vase, Vessel, Void’, a group show of Irish and international makers will run from 4 September – 2 October. Also on the Dublin Craft Trail, the So Gallery will show two exhibitions: ‘Interplay’, in which work is clustered into installations and includes thrown vessels by Jack Doherty that explore the theme of harbouring, while ‘Amárach’ shows work by Irish goldsmiths and jewellery designers. Both exhibitions run from 11 September – 17 October. IAC2014 Dublin is run in partnership with the University of Ulster and the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland
