Margarita Cappock examines how Ailbhe Ní Bhriain’s work with computer-generated imagery and collage invokes a feeling of dislocation in the viewer
Ailbhe Ní Bhriain, born in Co Clare in 1978 and now based in Cork, is an Irish artist working with film, computer-generated imagery, collage, tapestry, print and installation. Ní Bhriain’s work has been exhibited widely both nationally and internationally and she has been the recipient of numerous awards and prizes. Her work regularly involves collaboration with musicians and composers. Last year she had a solo show, ‘An Experiment with Time’, at the Centre for Contemporary Arts in Glasgow, and a version of the exhibition was included in the 16th Lyon Biennale, ‘Manifesto of Fragility’.
