For its annual ‘Student of the Year’ award, the Lavit Gallery presents an exhibition of work by Sue Dolan (see Irish Arts Review, summer 2018). Selected from the Crawford College of Art and Design degree show, Dolan’s work uses found objects, video projections, neon light, and sculptural objects, to reflect on the removal and destruction of favelas in Rio de Janeiro during preparations for the 2016 Olympics, alongside the scattering of ghost estates in Ireland. The award, which combines a cash prize with a solo exhibition, has been running since 1967.
