The summer programme at Down Arts Centre continues with an exhibition of monoprints by Valerie Giannandrea McKeag, showing new work created from the land and seascapes of Northern Ireland. Nuala Gregory and Tony Hill show new works in collage and sculptural mixed media, drawing on themes of metropolitan encounter, natural phenomena and man-made forms. In July, the Annual Schools Exhibition highlights the artistic standards reached by local secondary school students. Later, ‘Alchemy’ features work by eight artists participating in Craft Northern Ireland’s ‘Making It’ programme. Seven ceramists and one jeweller show work in precious and contemporary materials, as well as porcelain, earthenware and stoneware.
