Working in a windowless studio on the River Clyde in Glasgow, Merlin James revisits the rural scenes and architectural features that have captivated his practice for decades. Houses, bridges and rivers fill his canvases. His works showing at Kerlin Gallery are often pierced, cropped or heavily overpainted, refining ideas of genre and narrative.
