A new body of work by Irish-French photographer Samuel Laurence Cunnane is on view at the Kerlin Gallery. Using cinematic techniques, his collection of photographs addresses what is on the periphery of our vision, the blind spot towards our surroundings and environment, and the existential unease that arises from this. Working mostly from the West of Ireland, Cunnane has used the backdrop of pebbledash, excessive damp and exotic invasive species to give an ominous tone of environmental threat that depicts a world where the empty spaces on the fringes are overlooked, abandoned and increasingly contested.
